Getting started

What do I need?

An iPhone, ideally paired with an Apple Watch. We recommend the Watch: it stays on your wrist all day and phone calls don't interrupt it. The iPhone can also listen on its own.

How do I get in?

Join the waitlist on the home page. We're letting people in a few at a time and will email you when your spot opens.

Which languages does Ashley understand?

Chinese, English, Japanese, Korean and Spanish, including more than one in the same sentence.

Android?

Not yet. Join the waitlist anyway and tell us; it helps us decide.

Plans and paying

How much does it cost?

Every account starts with 20 free hours. After that, Plus is US$15.99 a month for 40 hours, and Unlimited is US$49.99 a month with no limit on hours. See pricing.

What counts as an hour?

Only time when someone is talking. Ashley checks for speech before turning anything into text. Quiet stretches and background sound with nobody talking are skipped and don't count. For example, if Ashley is on from 9am to 6pm and people talk for about 2 hours of it, the day uses about 2 hours. More on how we count.

What happens when my hours run out?

Ashley keeps listening and keeps the audio, but stops turning it into text and cards. Subscribe or move up a plan and she works through what's waiting, newest first. Audio still waiting after 30 days is deleted.

Where can I subscribe?

Paid plans open at launch; during the beta, Ashley is free. Then you can subscribe in the app, or on this website by signing in with the same Apple account.

Privacy and the people around you

Is it okay to use Ashley around other people?

Laws on recording conversations differ from place to place, so please follow the laws where you are. Before Ashley starts listening, we recommend that you let the people with you know and get their consent. Our page for the people around you can help you explain.

How do people know Ashley is listening?

The orange microphone light stays on, on whichever device is listening, the whole time. There is no hidden mode.

Can someone at Ashley read my conversations?

Your conversations are processed automatically to create your cards. No one reads them unless you ask us to help with a problem and give us permission. Your data is encrypted at rest on our servers, and every decryption is logged. See our Privacy Policy for details.

Do you sell my data or use it for ads?

No, never.

How do I delete things?

To delete a single event, press and hold its card or tap ⋯ in the top-right corner. To delete everything from a period of time, go to Privacy & Security, then Delete Data, in the app and choose the period. To delete your account and all of its data, choose Delete Account.

Everyday use

Does all-day listening drain the battery?

Ashley is engineered for all-day use. Audio is compressed on the device and uploaded in segments, and no extra work is done when nobody is speaking. We've tested all-day listening on iPhone 14 and Apple Watch Series 10.

What if I get a phone call?

When listening on iPhone, a regular phone call pauses listening, and it resumes automatically when you hang up. After calls in other apps, like WhatsApp or WeChat, tap once to start again for now. We recommend listening with Apple Watch, which phone calls don't interrupt.

Can I use it with my AI assistant?

Yes, and we strongly recommend it, as long as your assistant supports MCP. Connect it from the Connect tab in the app. It has read-only access, and you can disconnect it at any time. See how to connect.
